The Heliopan ND-VARIO Variable ND Filter provides stepless control of light reduction from ND 0.3 to ND 1.8, equivalent to an exposure extension of 2× to 64×. By rotating the filter, density can be adjusted smoothly without changing filters—ideal for both photography and video.

Constructed like a circular polarizer, the filter uses two precision-mounted filter foils sealed in glass. Rotation changes the ND effect continuously, offering creative control over aperture, shutter speed, and depth of field.

Notes & Limitations

• Not a full replacement for strong ND filters above ND 1.2 on wide-angle lenses under 35mm

• At higher densities (approx. 5 f-stops and above), minor color shifts may occur

• At maximum density, cross-pattern shading may appear with wide-angle lenses
